Life at Mount Erin

Overview

Mount Erin Boarding House provides students from the Riverina and beyond with the opportunity to undertake their Catholic secondary education in Wagga Wagga as weekly boarders who travel home each weekend.

Boarding at Mount Erin provides the opportunity for a balanced academic, spiritual, sporting, and social experience and the chance to make friends for life. Mount Erin Boarders can choose to attend either Kildare Catholic College adjacent to the boarding house or Mater Dei Catholic College, which is a short bus ride away. The Mount Erin boarding car transports students to and from afternoon off site activities or appointments.

Boarding Facilities

Mount Erin has male and female boarding precincts with a common central area that houses the administration, catering/dining, meeting and study areas.

Students are generally accommodated in single cubicle bed spaces with a small number of shared twin rooms also utilised.

Seminar rooms are provided for collaborative learning and supervised evening study, together with specialised online teacher tutorial assistance with homework and assignments.

Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

Caring Boarding Staff provide a “home away from home” environment and the Boarding Supervisors all have hubs where students can gather informally.

Processes, including an Induction Program, are in place to support new boarders as they adjust to being away from home and if required, counselling support is provided for all boarders through a Registered Psychologist at each of the Colleges. Mount Erin has a Student Leadership program to encourage boarders to have a voice in boarding life and to assist new and younger students as they settle in.
